For the 2025 narrative art contest from SCBWI, the theme is something that seems like a threat but isn’t. This nonthreatening threat was, and still is sometimes, raising a hand in class as a middle school wallflower. Speaking up can be scary but it’s just raising a hand, add something to a conversation. There might be consequences for getting an answer wrong, shame, but you’re not drowning. You are not about to fall off a cliff though it may feel like that.
