It’s me, Brittanny Handiboe (technically Halper, I’m married! 😩) You’ll see me online as b.handi. I’m an ADHD and ASD illustrator, writer, wife, and mother of three. I like art, nature, theology, and science. You’ll see a lot of those things sprinkled in my writing and illustration. I’m currently seeking representation for my work!

I’ve been creating art since I was a child and continue to do so in watercolor, digital, and mixed media. My written work tends to reflect my life experiences from being an only child who went undiagnosed with ADHD and ASD until adulthood. My picture book manuscripts tend to be about characters going through tough times, learning how to work with complicated emotions through creativity. I write lyrical, rhyming, and I’m dipping my toes into the humor of awkward emotions. I try to be funny…I’m learning! My graphic novels add all that plus family drama with horror elements.

After graduating from Montserrat College of Art with a dual major in illustration and painting, I illustrated the self published books “Lullaby Land” by Rhonda J. Beard, “Holly and Her Heart” by Ella Kunce, and “ABC Zolia Bu” by Mann Sing. I’m the Illustrator Coordinator for the Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators MD/DE/WV region and am thankful for any and all help I get from family, friends, the kidlit community and of course God in this ever expanding universe!

*Holly And Her Heart is a story about 10 year old Holly who struggles with a heart condition her classmates do not understand. With open communication and care, Holly is able connect with her classmates as she speaks about her condition, DiGeorge Syndrome. This story is available here

*ABC Zolai Bu is a simple abcs book about Zogam and Zomi people. This project was written by Man Cing.
